ChicagoPosted: July 6, 2011
While Chicago inspired my first blog entry (and the entire blog for that matter), a Chicago hotel inspired this second one. Usually the artwork you find in hotels is vanilla boring if not ass ugly, but the artwork in the Hyatt Regency actually had some nice black and white photographs of gritty Chicago. I love ugly-beautiful, gritty photography. Things like industrial sites, graffiti and dilapidated buildings are so striking in a well taken photograph. That’s probably why old barns calendars were once so popular. Anyway, I decided that the free time I had left in Chicago would be spent walking around some of the nearby sites and seeing what I could capture with my camera. They are not limited to gritty scenes however. There are probably very few actually since I also love architecture, textures and plants.
